the 4 tones
In Mandarin Chinese, there are so many words that sound similar and it can get confusing! This is why it's super important to use the correct the tone when speaking. You wouldn't want to accidentally call your Mom "mā" a Horse "mǎ", would you?
The 4 tones recap:
The 1st tone is a high, flat sound.
The 2nd tone sounds like a question.
The 3rd tone starts mid-range, falls down & goes up.
The 4th tone starts high then goes down.
